Pakistan cricket fraternity mourns Woolmer’s death

Pakistan’s cricket fraternity reacted with disbelief and sadness to the sudden death of coach Bob Woolmer in Kingston, Jamaica, on Sunday with President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz leading the tribute to former England Test player. Viewed as a villain till Sunday following Pakistan’s shock defeat to minnows Ireland that put them out of the World Cup, Woolmer’s sad death made everyone forget about the past.
The president (who is also the Patron of the PCB) and the prime minister have expressed their heartfelt condolences over the tragic death of Woolmer.
“In their message to his family (in South Africa), they said Woolmer’s services to the game will be long remembered, and that he had promoted the game in Pakistan with dedication and single mindedness.”
Former Test captain and Woolmer’s predecessor Javed Miandad said, “the sadness of the way he passed away will always remain with us.”
“No matter what has happened in the past, I am deeply saddened to hear his death. He was a decent human being,” said Miandad, one of Woolmer’s biggest critics during his tenure as coach from June 2004 to date
